Project: North Sebastian Conservation Area Gopher Tortoise Study

Summary: CivaTerra, in partnership with David Cox Consulting, conducted an assessment of gopher tortoise densities within the North Sebastian Conservation Area (NSCA). This assessment evaluated the site's suitability for receiving relocated tortoises. Tortoise densities were calculated using GPS-based sampling, and the location of tortoise burrows were overlaid with vegetation, soil, and water table data to identify suitable sites for future tortoise relocations.
